DupeTrasher requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 (or newer) to be installed on Windows XP. This framework is required by more and more modern applications today, so it is a good idea to have it installed in general. Please run DupeTrasher setup again once you download and install .NET Framework 3.0.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 information web page
If installing .NET Framework is not an option for you but you would still like to try DupeTrasher then we can offer you an older version that needs no prerequisites of any kind. More about the old version of DupeTrasher...
How can I determine if I already have .NET Framework 3.0 installed?
When you download and run DupeTrasher setup, it will detect whether you have it installed or not. If you do have it installed then setup will proceed normally and install DupeTrasher on your system. If you do not have it then setup will report that to you and offer you to open this web page for instructions on how to install it.
Why does DupeTrasher needs prerequisites?
DupeTrasher was developed by using the new technology called Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) which is part of the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 (or newer). This technology allowed DupeTrasher to have advanced features and new modern graphical user interface. What this means for the end user is that in order to run DupeTrasher he must have installed Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 (or newer). This framework comes by default on Windows Vista (and any newer Windows version) but for Windows XP it has to be installed manually (or via Windows Update).
